Have you ever gone camping, hunting, hiking or boating and found yourself stuck and the unexpected just happens? It might have never happened to you, but you realize you need to carry a survival kit in case you are going out in places with possible risks of starving, getting hurt or even struggling to stay alive.
1. Survival flashlights
You might choose to carry bigger powerful flashlights or smaller ones depending on the anticipated situations. In as much as there are flashlights with in-built power storage, it is advisable to carry one with external power source i.e. batteries. These batteries should either be rechargeable or have a long life.
Carry at least 1.5 litres of water/day. Alternatively, you can carry purification tablets which can treat almost any water and this also helps reduce the amount of water in your backpack. Also, there are cleansing bottles which remove bacteria without any chemical process taking place.
3. Extra clothing
This could be helpful when going to cold places where you are needed to carry warm clothes or in water sports where you can’t just use heavy clothes.
Personal ID, passports, credit cards are very vital when going out. You don’t go on road trips and forget your license at home or personal IDs. Again you don’t carry your ID when going for hunting. Things like local maps may help in case you lost in the middle of nowhere. Some petty cash might also help out somewhere.
5. Communication means
Phones, radio calls and any other communication means are necessary wherever you go. In today’s world, a phone has almost everything you might need including maps, light, and even internet.
6. First aid kit
In case of accidents, sicknesses, allergies or any other physical disorder that might occur in the middle of something, a first aid kit also with prescribed medicine could save someone’s life.
Pack healthy and non-perishable food for the number of days you think you might be out.
8. Gas or dust masks
This could help if you are going in dusty areas.
You might just need to be updated and your phone is off. Just carry a small portable radio to keep you online.
Things like ropes if going hiking, a knife for self-defense, Lighting matches, phone chargers are very vital depending on where you are going.
